Meet The Doctor

Sara A. Bender, DDS, MS, PA

Dr. Bender, a native of North Texas, is a board-certified periodontist. Born and raised and Dallas, Texas, she was excited to open her office and provide periodontal care for Frisco and surrounding communities. She is committed to creating a comfortable office environment supported by her highly trained team of staff members. The team is dedicated to providing superior periodontal and implant therapy in a patient-focused approach to therapeutic success.

Dr. Bender earned a Bachelor of Arts from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. She furthered her education at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where she was Valedictorian of her dental class and received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). She continued her education at the Health Science Center in San Antonio to earn her Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Bender is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology (board-certified). In addition, Dr. Bender maintains advanced training in conscious sedation anesthesia which enables her to provide oral and intravenous (IV) sedation for her patients. Dr. Bender has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals reporting her research with implant surfaces, bone cements and bone grafting materials. She attends local and national meetings to keep current with new research, techniques and technology in her scope of practice.

Financial and Treatment Coordinator:

Lori Slayden brings over 20 years experience in the dental field to Dr. Bender's practice. Her extensive knowledge in periodontics enables her to answer most of your questions about insurance and treatment expectations. She is one of the many reasons our patients hold our office in such high regard.

New Patient and Hygiene Coordinator:

Donna Lydia will help you schedule appointments with Dr. Bender. Donna's outgoing personality and over 20 years of experience in dentistry will make your transition into our office a smooth one. She will acquire important information from you including the reason for your visit, your referring doctor and dental insurance information. She will also help gather important information from your referring doctor, for example xrays and specific treatment needs, to help Dr. Bender know more about you before your visit.

In her spare time, Donna enjoys cooking, jogging and helping her husband with their sports photography business.

Surgical Assistants:

Bonnie Halladay, RDA, and Tara Palmer, RDA, will help make your visit at Dr. Bender's office comfortable. They will assist Dr. Bender in recording information during your examination and assist her during procedures.

Bonnie joined our team in November 2005 and has been bringing smiles to our patients ever since. Bonnie is licensed by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners in nitrous oxide monitoring and holds certification in Radiology and Infection Control for dental offices. Bonnie has worked in several areas of the dental field helping patient's charside as well as aiding patients with their treatment needs and insurance.

Tara, who joined our team in the Spring of 2009, is a Registered Dental Assitant of the state of Texas and currently holds certification in Radiology and Infection Control. Tara has over 5 years experience in the dental field.

Hygienist:

Rhonda Freese, RDH, will work closely with Dr. Bender in maintaining your periodontal health. She will clean your teeth and help you with oral hygiene techniques to maximize your oral health.

Rhonda, a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH), joined our practice in January 2007. We value Rhonda's expertise, as she brings over 30 years of experience as a hygienist in periodontal offices. She is an active member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and has served as an officer at the local, state and national levels.

Marketing Director:

Joy Kirkpatrick works outside of our office, maintaining relationships with your general dentist or referring doctor. She may pick up or deliver information, supplies or labwork between our office and other dental offices.
